Homemade Anti-Aging Skin Care Recipes – Facial Steams

There are many factors which cause, even speed up, the aging process of the skin. Some factors such as exposure to ultraviolet light, smoking, dehydration, poor diet and stress may be reduced by making lifestyle changes. Collagen breakdown, loss of skin elasticity and thinning of the skin also contribute to wrinkled skin and sagging skin.

Cleansing is an Important Step to Help Rebuild, Replenish and Protect the Skin

The skin is the body’s largest organ which protects against the elements such as pollution, which is unavoidable in today’s world. As pores get clogged with dirt, makeup and oil, the skin cannot fully function. It is important to help the skin stay clear so it can also assist the body to release toxins.

Cleansing the skin is one of the most important steps to help the skin retain its healthy glow. When you make your own homemade skin care products, you can choose ingredients which target specific aging skin problems such as wrinkles and sagging skin.

A Simple and Effective Way to Deep Cleanse and Soften the Skin

Facial steams are easy to make at home. Facial steams open pores and help release trapped dirt and oil. They also can be regenerating, increase skin tone and improve texture. The extremely small molecules of essential oils of herbs and flowers in the homemade facial steam recipes can penetrate the skin and stimulate skin regeneration, improve circulation, and encourage collagen and elastin production which supports the all-important underlying connective tissue.

The skin regenerates about every 30 days. Improving diet and lifestyle and adding homemade facial steams to your anti-aging skin care regimen a couple of times a week can help give your skin a more firm, smooth and youthful appearance.

Customize Yours with Herbs and Essential Oils

Though herbs and essential oils are added for skin therapeutic benefits, essential oils can also be added to customize the mental, emotional and spiritual benefit derived from the anti-aging facial steam. For example, choosing essential oils that have an invigorating effect would be good for a homemade facial steam in the morning. Or, an evening steam may include essential oils that have a calming and relaxing effect.
